The “good times” for Amazon during this Covid-19 crisis might be ending. A warehouse worker tested positive for Covid-19 in Queens. As reported in The Atlantic, workers claim they were expected to go to work after the positive test. Amazon denies.
(UPDATE) And then, Amazon reopened the facility four hours after it was shut down.
As usual, it seems that Amazon is behind the curve when it comes to worker safety. Only this time it also impacts their customers.
Apparently, they are seeing a bonanza in this pandemic, they could add another 100,000 workers, at least temporarily.
No one should be getting Covid-19. And Amazon workers shouldn’t have to pay the price so others can be safe. But again, if you can shop local, or small, you should be doing so. If you want a retail world coming back when this thing is over, you can help make that happen by avoiding Amazon.
